What are the benefits for the babies?

Baby Mindful has been created with a range of activities to stimulate and calm babies whilst helping development. Sessions have been designed by psychologists, teachers and therapists to help develop babies’ confidence and awareness. The Baby Mindful course can be adapted for working with special needs, and can used in a variety of settings such as hospitals, healthcare centres, community centres and homes.

For babies:

  • To both stimulate and calm whilst supporting their natural development.
  • To encourage their confidence and awareness along with their cognitive, communicative, social, emotional and physical development.
  • To enjoy quiet and unhurried time with parents, which will enhance bonding.
  • To help their parents feel calmer and more confident about responding to their needs.

What are the benefits for the parents?

  • To support parents to build a calm, safe, and soothing space where they can grow and transition into their new roles.
  • To spend quality time with their baby in a calming and supportive atmosphere where they will benefit from carefully designed exercises to help themselves relax, unwind, and feel more confident and grounded.
  • To learn how to take note of their feelings, and to develop the tools to calm or adjust themselves as needed.
  • To help parents learn to how to respond to the 'dance of parenthood' from a place of feeling calm and centred.
  • To help parents feel calmer and more relaxed while they bond with their baby and support their development.
  • To introduce parents to practical life tools that will be beneficial throughout their parenting journey.
  • To help parents become more aware of the link between their emotional state and that of their baby.
  • To encourage parents to realise that their needs are important too, and to recognise the value of nurturing themselves.
  • To encourage parents to believe that they have the "permission" to just stop and rest, and to take some time for themselves.

It was our first experience of baby mindfulness and we didn't know what to expect but Jo put us at ease and we felt comfortable and relaxed throughout the session. Baby Freddie (only 5weeks old) appeared to enjoy the exercises and opportunity to relax and be close to me. Constructively the room felt a little cramped but Jo did explain future groups would be smaller. Also it would have been nice to have more of an opportunity to introduce Mummy's/babies to feel more comfortable with eachother but I imagine there would be more opportunities to do this in a more established group. I will be exploring options to continue this experience as can definitely see the benefits and Jo demonstrated the types of exercises really well. Thank you

A lovely chilled out class, makes me feel very relaxed.

I came with my 19 week old little boy Daniel and breast fed him for the whole class! It was wonderful to be in such a calm place, "twinkle twinkle little star" being played in the background, lovely smell of lavender in the room When it came to sharing with the group about being a star as a mum, I shared how difficult it had been for me to breast fed ,Daniel was born prematurely and how proud I was that I was feeding him and kissing him and felt so connected to him in this lovely relaxed place with other mums and their babies. Went home so happy!
